What are we doing?
Good news! From Thursday 14 March we’re removing the need for additional business proofs for sole traders taking a 30/36 month. To support with this, we have now introduced a simple digital version of the Sole Trader self certification – a document you can sent through Lightico, so the customer can sign to confirm they are a sole trader. Sorted.
What do you need to do?
For all Sole Traders, this self certification will need to be completed each time – the full process is detailed in the briefing pack attached. Please ensure that you read this and familiarise yourself with the new process for Sole Trader connections going forward.
What do we mean by self certification?
This is a way that the customer can confirm that they are a sole trader through the signing the document sent to them from lightico.
Why are we doing this?
We know it’s difficult for sole trader customers to provide an additional business proof; introducing a self-certification mitigates this and also helps protect you, and the customer – ensuring that we’re correctly qualifying our sole trader customers, and ensuring customers have the opportunity to also confirm this. This will then allow for you to continue to process these connections for your sole trader customers, without having the send them away to obtain proofs they may not have.
Where can I go to for further information/support?
Your Albert policies will be updated, and the briefing pack attached will give you all the information you need. The proof checklist will also be updated with the changes.
Please also check in with your RBC on any Sole Trader queries you may have.
For any technical questions relating to Lightico, please ensure these are reported through BAU channels.
